A soldier's life ...

When a guy is only 4 years old, his dreams are of simple things, but.
it was obvious early on that Steve was going to be someone extra special.

He became a paramedic when he was 20, but that was just the beginning ...

He joined the Army in 1995

And graduated from Combat Medic training.

Then he deployed to South Korea for 12 months
A soldier needs a quiet place to write letters ... even if that place is in the latrine.

His fellow soldiers called him "Doc" and he returned home home with new ambition.

He graduated from nursing school 2 years later

Most people think soldiers travel in relative comfort ...

And fly on modern aircraft in comfort...

Holidays are often spent overseas ... but they never complain ...

... even if their bed is a narrow, hard cot in a tent with 50 other soldiers
and they have to sleep with their boots on and their rifle at their side.

Think of our troops when:
  • You're sleeping in a warm, safe bed in a home with running water
  • You soap up in a hot shower in the morning before going to work
  • Your commute to work is in an air-conditioned, or heated car
  • You swing by a convenience store for a cold drink or quick snack
  • Your hardest decision of the day is which "value meal" to choose at the drive-thru
  • You're getting dressed to take your spouse or a date out for dinner and a movie
  • You're watching your kids/grandkids play safely in their own yard or the local playground
  • You kick back on your recliner and flip on the TV to view a new episode of your favorite program
  • You flip a switch and a light goes on ... or off
  • You're spending holidays and vacations at home with your families
  • You call in sick and spend the day at home in bed

These are things they'll never take for granted.

God bless our troops.
